According to a study by the University of Mannheim, the German economy faces an annual loss of value creation totaling EUR 50 billion if it were to face a global steel crisis displacing domestic production.
Depending on their size, 500 to 850 tons of steel are installed in the central components of an onshore wind turbine. Given its use in the mounting structures for photovoltaic systems and in pipelines for hydrogen, steel is supporting the energy transition and driving developments forward.
